Infrastructure & Platform Engineer (Junior)

Converso does simultaneous interpretation, streaming, subtitling and accessibility for international events. The difference is that we build the products ourselves: Converso Platform, Converso RSAI (AI simultaneous interpretation, local LLM inference, human in the loop), ROSA, and more to come. And we actually use them, every day, during events. The stack touches a bit of everything: Kubernetes on GCP, Vue/Nuxt apps, Node.js APIs, SRT/WebRTC streaming pipelines, Raspberry Pi edge devices, local LLM inference. Tomorrow there'll be something else, and that's the fun part. You don't need to know all of it. You need the brains to learn it, the curiosity to understand it, and the autonomy to figure it out. No degree needed.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain the web apps and APIs for our products (Vue/Nuxt, Node.js, Firebase)
  • Run the cloud infrastructure: deploys, containers, CI/CD, monitoring (GCP, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Work on the audio/video streaming pipelines (SRT, WebRTC, and whatever's next)
  • Set up edge devices for on-site encoding and streaming (Raspberry Pi and dedicated hardware)
  • Keep networking and connectivity running: DNS, reverse proxy, VPN, firewall
  • Automate what you can: do something twice, write a script for it
  • Pitch in on Converso RSAI: AI pipelines, local inference, quality
  • Now and then, technical support during live events (remote too)

Requirements

  • You write code that works in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python: no need to be senior, just resourceful
  • Linux and the terminal are home to you, not a chore
  • You know how a network works, at least the basics: DNS, HTTP, WebSocket, TCP/UDP
  • You use Git without fear (branch, merge, conflicts)
  • You've at least opened Docker: run a container, got the gist of what it's for
  • You can search, read the docs and solve your own problems. This is the one that matters most
  • You use AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) sensibly, as part of the work
  • Fluent Italian; enough technical English to read docs and Stack Overflow

Nice to have

  • Docker Compose, Kubernetes, or even just a docker-compose.yml you wrote yourself
  • Having tinkered with some cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure), even just the free tier
  • An interest in streaming and realtime (OBS, SRT, WebRTC, FFmpeg)
  • An interest in applied AI: local inference, LLMs, audio pipelines
  • A homelab, a Raspberry Pi doing something, a VPS running your projects
  • Something of yours on GitHub: personal projects or open source contributions

What we offer

  • €28,000–35,000 gross a year (14 monthly instalments), based on what you can do

  • Small team: the CEO/CTO writes code alongside you, and what you propose can really change how we work

Honestly

  • To be clear: we're not a big company and we don't pretend to be. No company cafeteria with Wednesday sushi, no team of thirty, no logo that looks impressive on LinkedIn.
  • What's here is something else: products that actually run, interesting technical problems to solve, decisions made in a day instead of a quarter, and the chance to see your code used during international events a few days after you wrote it.
