Infrastructure & Platform Engineer (Junior)
Converso provides interpretation, multilingual streaming, subtitling, and accessibility services for events worldwide. Our stack touches a bit of everything: Kubernetes clusters on GCP, Raspberry Pi edge devices, SRT and WebRTC streaming, realtime Vue/Nuxt web apps, and we're building an AI simultaneous interpretation system with local LLM inference. Tomorrow it could all change and there might be more — and that's the fun part. You don't need to know all of this: you need the mindset to learn it, the curiosity to want to understand it, and the autonomy to figure it out. No degree required.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain our web apps and APIs (Vue/Nuxt, Node.js, Firebase)
- Manage cloud infrastructure: deploys, containers, CI/CD, monitoring (GCP, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Configure and manage on-site streaming and encoding devices (Raspberry Pi, dedicated hardware)
- Work on audio/video streaming pipelines (SRT, WebRTC, and whatever comes next)
- Manage networking and connectivity: DNS, reverse proxy, VPN, firewall
- Automate everything possible — if you do it twice, write a script
- Be in the control room (even remotely) during live international events
- What you don't know yet, you'll learn — here the tech changes every week, and that's the fun part
Requirements
- Be able to write working code in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python — no need to be a senior, just resourceful
- Use Linux and the terminal as a natural environment, not a chore
- Understand how networks work: DNS, HTTP, WebSocket, TCP/UDP — at least the basics
- Use Git without fear (branch, merge, conflicts)
- Have at least opened Docker, run a container, understood roughly what it's for
- Be able to search, read documentation, and solve problems independently — this is the most important skill
- Sufficient technical English to read docs and Stack Overflow
- No degree required — we care about what you can do, not where you learned it
Nice to have
- Experience with Docker Compose, Kubernetes, or even just a docker-compose.yml you wrote yourself
- Experience with Vue.js / Nuxt or another modern frontend framework
- Having tinkered with cloud services (GCP, AWS, Azure) — even just the free tier
- Interest in streaming, audio/video, realtime (OBS, SRT, WebRTC, FFmpeg)
- A homelab, a Raspberry Pi doing something useful, a VPS running your projects
- Open source contributions or personal projects visible on GitHub
What we offer
- Starting salary €28,000–32,000 with fast review based on results, not seniority
- Meal vouchers and company-provided computer/hardware
- Training budget: courses, cloud certifications, conferences — if you want to grow, we support you
- Work on real products in production, used during international events — not POCs that end up in a drawer
- You touch everything: infrastructure, code, streaming, hardware, live events
- Hybrid mode: Milan office + remote
- Small team (< 10 people), zero bureaucracy, direct access to the CTO
- Concrete growth path: clear goals, direct feedback, no fake annual reviews
The first months
- Month 1: stack onboarding, first assisted deploys, getting familiar with infrastructure and internal tools
- Months 2–3: first independent tasks on web apps and infrastructure, participating in live events as technical support
- Months 4–6: independent deploy and troubleshooting management, active contribution to new projects (edge devices, AI pipelines, new features)
